Defending Super Bowl XLII Champions New York Giants have the best record in the NFC with a 9-1, and currently lead the NFC East with that impressive record. The closest rivals they have in the NFC East division race are the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys, who both have 6-4 records. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles are still within striking distance with a 5-4 record.
With still 6 weeks of the NFL regular season to play, the odds are certainly favoring the New York Giants to win the NFC East, and earn them a trip to the 2009 NFL Playoffs. However, the talent and fighting heart of the other NFC East teams - the Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles - cannot be discounted.
The Dallas Cowboys will still face the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles and can still probably add 3 more wins to their record.
The Washington Redskins will still face the Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and look to add at least 3 more wins to their record as well.
The Philalphia Eagles face the Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys and really must win 4 or more games if they hope to reach the 2009 NFL Playoffs.
Meanwhile, the New York Giants will have to face Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Viking, which are all tough matches. The round-robin with other NFC East teams will surely be big games to win should the New York Giants maintain their top position in the NFC East.
But then, 2 more wins should be able to assure the New York Giants of a playoff berth, and their winning streak this season certainly shows that the New York Giants are more than capable of winning the NFC East, and perhaps a 2nd consecutive Super Bowl championship in Super Bowl XLIII.

Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins +2
The Buffalo Bills are one of the top teams of the AFC with an impressive 5-1 record. The Miami Dolphins are 2-4, and are performing a little better than the previous NFL season, but I believe they don’t have what it takes to overcome the Buffalo Bills. The Buffalo Bills also have one of the NFL’s best defense, and will look to make use of that on the road against the Miami Dolphins. Bet on the Buffalo Bills to win.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Dallas Cowboys -2
The
Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 5-2, and are performing much better than the
Dallas Cowboys, who have a 4-3 record. The Dallas Cowboys have one of the NFL’s best offensive teams in terms of passing and yards covered, but lack the defense to help their offense out. Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys can score, but they can also be scored on. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are among the top 10 offensive teams throughout the NFL, and have an equally balanced defense that doesn’t allow that many points, and thus the huge number on the win column of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Certainly, it’ll be different at the home field of the Dallas Cowboys. Bet on Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win.
Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles -9
The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t been as strong as they are expected, going 3-3 so far this season. The Atlanta Falcons have a better record with 4-2, but are underdogs against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Atlanta Falcons will be hoping to extend their win streak to 3 games while the Philadelphia Eagles will be looking for their second straight win. Undoubtedly, the Philadelphia Eagles have what it takes to pull off a win, but it’s most unlikely that they’ll cover the 9-point spread. Bet on Atlanta Falcons to win against the spread.
St. Louis Rams at New England Patriots -7
The N ew England Patriots may not have NFL MVP Tom Brady as quarterback this season, but Matt Cassel has been able to still hold things together for the New England Patriots, who are 4-2 this season. The St. Louis Rams haven’t been as successful with a 2-4 record. However, the St. Louis Rams are on a two-game win streak, and seem to have found a rhythm to improve their record. Of course, it’ll be difficult for the St. Louis Rams to earn that win on the road against the New England Patriots, but certainly they can keep it close against the spread. Bet on St. Louis Rams to win.
Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers -4
The
Carolina Panthers are 5-2 while the
Arizona Cardinals are 4-2. Both have been pretty successful so far, and this game proves to be an excellent match-up with two of the top ten teams of the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals are on a two-game win streak and look to make it three wins in a row, but they’ll certainly have a difficult time doing that against the Carolina Panthers who have won all their 4 games at home. The Carolina Panthers have been so successful at home that the 4-point spread looks like it will be easily covered. Bet on Carolina Panthers.
Washington Redskins at Detroit Lions +7.5
The
Detroit Lions have a horrible NFL record at 0-6, and will certainly look to book their first win of the season when they host the
Washington Redskins. Of course, that won’t be such an easy task as the Washington Redskins have proven to be one of the top teams in the NFL this season with a record of 5-2 so far. Perhaps the Detroit Lions might have some success with a win against the spread even if they lose out their 7th in a row. Bet on Detroit Lions to win against the spread.
Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville Jaguars -7
The Jacksonville Jaguars are at 3-3, which is a much better record than the Cleveland Browns, who are at 2-4. The Cleveland Browns are coming from a loss while the Jacksonville Jaguars are coming from a win, and will look to keep that streak going with the home field advantage. However, the Cleveland Browns defense has better stats than the Jacksonville Jaguars offense despite having a worse record. Of course, despite that, the Cleveland Browns haven’t been as successful in scoring and thus they haven’t book as many wins. Bet on Cleveland Browns to win against the spread.

4 weeks of NFL football have passed, and while I missed giving betting picks for the NFL Week 4, I woud’ve been able to tell you to bet on
Buffalo Bills and
Tennessee Titans.
As it stands, the Buffalo Bills are at the top of the AFC East with a perfect 4-0 record. Likewise, the Tennessee Titans are also 4-0, leading the AFC South.
Early AFC favorites were the New England Patriots, but a serious injury suffered by star quarterback and NFL MVP Tom Brady will keep him out of the entire season, and making it more difficult for the Pats to be the solid force they were predicted to be.
In the NFC, defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants have a perfect 3-0 record, and got a bye on Week 4 to leave their record untainted.
Early NFC favorites Dallas Cowboys suffered a dramatic loss to the W ashington Redskins during Week 4, and go to 3-1 just behind the Washington Redskins in the NFC East who are also 3-1, but lead by point difference.
A quick look at the team stats of the NFL show that the Denver Broncos have the number one ranked offense, and the Buffalo Bills are not even among the top 10. Even the Tennessee Titans are ranked even further down. However, despite what the stats site about passing yards per game and rushing yards per game, what counts the most is the number on the win column, and the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans have a good standing there.
In fact, the stat that counts the most is in scoring, and the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans are ranked in the top 5 of the AFC in scoring.
In the upcoming Week 5 of the NFL, the Buffalo Bills will try to remain unbeaten when they visit the Arizona Cardinals while the Tennessee Titans host the Baltimore Ravens.

Here are some expert betting picks for Week 1 of the 2008-09 NFL regular season:
Washington Redskins at New York Giants -3.5
Super Bowl XLII Champions New York Giants aren’t being given much respect this season, but I believe the New York Giants have got a lot of fight in them, and the Washington Redskins will be their first victim en route to another Super Bowl appearance. Bet on New York Giants to cover the spread against Washington Redskins. Bet on total score of Washington at New York to go UNDER 40.5.

Bet on total score of New York Jets at Miami to go UNDER 36.0.
Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots -16.5
The New England Patriots look like the best team in the NFL on paper, but then that all depends on the questionable health of star quarterback Tom Brady, who might not be fully recovered from his foot injury. Last season, the
New England Patriots had an undefeated regular season with a perfect 16-0 record. The New England Patriots were also on their way to a perfect 19-0, except that they lost the last game of the season that counted the most - The Super Bowl. The New England Patriots lost Super Bowl XLII to the
New York Giants 17 to 14, and had to settle for an 18-1 record.
For the 2008-09 season, the New England Patriots are still the big favorites to win the 2009 AFC Championship and earn their fifth trip to the Super Bowl in eight years. After all, their perfect regular season record last season (despite losing Super Bowl XLII) still makes the New England Patriots one of best teams in the history of the NFL.
With a superstar roster that includes 2007 NFL MVP quarterback Tom Brady, wide receiver Randy Moss and running back Laurence Maroney, the New England Patriots are billed to have the best offensive line in the NFL. Of course, the defense of the New England Patriots is also one of the strongest in the NFL with the likes of Tedy Bruschi, Adalius Thomas, Mike Vrabel and James Sanders. There’s also Junior Seau on the New England’s defensive line, but has yet to sign his contract for the 2008 to 2009 NFL season.
Oddsmakers have already given an early line on which NFL team will win Super Bowl XLIII, and the odds have ranked the New England Patriots as the heavy favorites to win Super Bowl XLIII. Other strong contenders to win Super Bowl XLIII include the Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers and Indianapolis Colts.
Oddsmakers think that it is a long shot for Super Bowl XLII champions New York Giants to win again in Super Bowl XLIII.
The New England Patriots may be the favorites to win Super Bowl XLIII, but they are off to a sluggish start during the NFL pre-season games, going 0-4 during the pre-season. Of course, the New England Patriots haven’t really used their big guns, sidelining star quarterback Tom Brady throughout the pre-season. Tom Brady is still recovering from an injury to his right foot. However, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick stated that Tom Brady will start in their season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 7, 2008 at the Patriots’ home field at the Gilette Stadium.
New England Patriots reserve quarterback Matt Cassel has been taking over for Tom Brady in the pre-season, and hasn’t really been coming up with impressive numbers. If the New England Patriots hope to win Super Bowl XLIII, then they better have a healthy line up, especially a healthy Tom Brady. Because as we can see - without Tom Brady playing for the New England Patriots, they are very vulnerable.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys -7.5
The New York Giants advance to the NFC Championships against the Green Bay Packers after winning their NFC Divisional Playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys 21-17.
The Dallas Cowboys (13-3) were favorites to win against the New York Giants (10-6), especially with the home field advantage at the Texas Stadium. The Dallas Cowboys had a chance to win the game in dramatic fashion, but Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo had his pass intercepted in the endzone by New York Giants cornerback R.W. McQuarters to end the playoff run of the Dallas Cowoys.
New York Giants QB Eli Manning threw 2 touchdown passes with New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer being the recipient of both. New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs also rushed for a touchdown to push the New York Giants for a win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys only managed 2 touchdowns through a rush by Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber and a catch by Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens.
The upset victory of the New York Giants is also a win ATS with the Dallas Cowboys failing to cover the -7.5 point spread. The New York Giants advance to the NFL NFC Championship, where they will face the Green Bay Packers.
The NFC Champion of the Green Bay Packers vs. New York Giants will advance to Superbowl XLII, which will be held at the Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.
