Miami Heat all-star
Dwyane Wade had a chance to make a jump shot with 2 seconds to go in the game, but missed! When the buzzer sounded, the Boston Celtics had a 92-91 advantage to keep their unbeaten streak of 8-0 and the Miami Heat looking better, but still with a disappointing 1-8 record to the start of the 2007-08 NBA regular season.
Boston Celtics all-star Kevin Garnett dominated with a game-high 26 points and a game-high 11 rebounds to lead the charge of the Boston Celtics along with Ray Allen, who contributed 19 points and 7 boards, and Rajon Rondo, who contributed a game-high 10 assists. Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce scored 12 points, including the winning basket with 25 seconds to go.
The Miami Heat, led by head coach Pat Riley, got 23 points from Dwyane Wade in only his second game of the season. Miami Heat players Ricky Davis added 20 points and superman center Shaquille O’ Neal added 17 points.
However, despite the win by Boston Celtics, the Miami Heat bettors are the big money winners considering that the odd for the Heat vs. Celtics game was Miami Heat at Boston Celtics -11.5. The 1 point margin by the Boston Celtics was not enough to cover the point spread, and the Miami Heat fans who bet for Shaq & Wade are going to win big bets and party in Miami Beach Steely Dan style with “Cuervo Gold and the fine Columbian!”
The Miami Heat’s next regular season game will be on the road against Vince Carter, Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets on November 17, Saturday, followed by home games against the Atlanta Hawks on November 21 and then against Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets on November 23.
The Boston Celtics hope to continue their winning streak when they go on the road to play Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic on November 18, and then back at home to host Baron Davis and the Golden State Warriors on November 21, and then to play arch-rivals Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers on November 23.
