Current Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan are the heavy favorites to win the Italian Serie A championship in the upcoming 2008-2009 season. If Inter Milan is successful, it will be their 4th consecutive Italian Serie A title and 17th overall.
Inter Milan were first crowned champions in the 2005-06 season when the Italian Serie A game-fixing scandal stripped Juventus FC of their title and penalized AC Milan by deducting 30 points, and thus assigning Inter Milan as the champions. In the 2006-07, wiht Juventus relegated to the Italian Serie B, and Inter Milan strengthened by taking on former Juventus players Patrick Vieira and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, it was a breeze for Inter Milan to take the championship.
Last season, Inter Milan’s title was contested by AS Roma, but Inter Milan were able to hold off on the last match of the season to win their 3rd straight Italian Serie A Championship.
Leading Inter Milan for its fourth straight Italian Serie A title, is new head coach Jose Mourinho, who takes over the post of Roberto Mancini. Of course, Jose Mourinho will have a lot of star players in its squad, which includes Hernan Crespo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Patrick Vieira, Luis Figo, Julio Cruz, Adriano, Christina Chivu, Esteban Cambiasso and Javier Zanetti.
Recently, Inter Milan won the Beckenbauer Cup when it defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 during a friendly match in Munich. Inter Milan also won the Eusebio Cup after defeating Benfica 5-4 in penalty shots following a 0-0 draw during a friendly held at Lisbon.
Inter Milan begin their 2008-09 Italian Serie A season being visitors at Sampdoria. Other Italian Serie A matches to open the Italian Serie A 2008-09 season apart from Inter Milan vs Sampdoria include: Udinese vs Palermo, Catania vs Genoa, Cagliari vs Lazio, Torino vs Lecce, Chievo Verona vs Reggina, AS Roma vs Napoli, AC Milan vs Bologna, Atalanta vs Siena and Fiorentina vs Juventus.

Italian Serie A Betting Results: Juventus 3, AC Milan 2
Juventus vs AC Milan is indeed one of the best match-ups in the Italian Serie A. Defending UEFA Champions League title holders and FIFA Club World Cup champions AC Milan have not been that successful in their championship campaign in the Italian Serie A, but definitely they are a team that is exciting to watch with the likes of Kaka, Filippo Inzaghi, Andrea Pirlo and Paolo Maldini in the line up.
Meanwhile, Juventus are not also to be taken lightly with the likes of Alessandro Del Piero and Italian Serie A topscorer David Trezeguet there to spark things up.
It was a tight match between Juventus vs AC Milan. However, perhaps the home pitch advantage of Juventus helped them book a 3-2 win against AC Milan. That plus the fact that AC Milan were kept down to 10 men with a red card being handed to Daniele Bonera for a nasty challenge on Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko. With AC Milan down to 10 men, Juventus took full advantage and scored 2 late goals to seize the 3-2 victory over AC Milan.
Scoring for Juventus was none other than Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero supported by two goals from talented midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic, who scored 2 goals for Juventus. AC Milan found their goals in the match against Juventus from Filippo Inzaghi, who scored both goals of AC Milan.
Juventus improve their Italian Serie A standing to 61 points and maintain the 3rd spot behind AS Roma in 2nd spot and Italian Serie A leaders Inter Milan, who lead the Italian Serie A with 72 points. AC Milan maintain the 5th spot with 52 points.

Nine points may still be a long way away, but at least the gap on Italian Serie A league leaders Inter Milan has been shortened by AS Roma who defeated Fiorentina 1-0. Inter Milan failed to stretch their lead, but manage to salvage 1 point in a draw against Sampdoria.

Brazilian football sensation
Ronaldo was just getting back in the groove of things with AC Milan. Since Ronaldo signed with
AC Milan last year, following his exit from Real Madrid, it took a while before Ronaldo got back to form and be healthy enough to make the line-up. An overweight problem did some damage to his knees, and let’s just say that it’s something that he’s been trying to deal with ever since.
Last year, Ronaldo made a fine debut with AC Milan, going 7 goals in 14 appearances. This season, Ronaldo has only played 60 minutes for AC Milan, with his health and fitness in question. A recent appearance during an Italian Serie A match against Livorno would seem that Ronaldo was back to form, but unfortunately Ronaldo suffered a knee injury while jumping for a cross and had to be stretchered off and taken to a hospital.
Further medical investigation concluded that Ronaldo had ruptured a kneecap ligament in his left knee. Ronaldo had already twice sustained such an injury prior to Livorno, but his previous injuries were on his right knee. Now, it’s the left.
Big question is - Without two good knees, how is Ronaldo ever going to get back to his once supreme form? Medical reports have suggested that Ronaldo could be needing at least 9 months to be fit to play again. Will AC Milan wait for 9 more months, or could this be the end of Ronaldo’s career?
AC Milan will be playing at Parma for their next Italian Serie A match.

Inter Milan are on target for their 2nd consecutive Italian Serie A title!
Inter Milan Beat Siena 3-2
Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan still maintain a stronghold at the top of the Italian Serie A standings, earning 3 more points after a 3-2 victory in Siena.
Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored two goals while Esteban Cambiasso also scored a goal to book the win against Siena. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored in the 26th minute on a penalty and in the 52nd on a powerful shot from outside the area.
“Ibrahimovic scored an extraordinary goal today,” Inter’s coach, Roberto Mancini, said of the striker’s second score. “He can do everything.”
Inter’s goalkeeper, Julio Cesar, made several difficult saves before Siena’s Fernando Forestieri scored in second-half injury time.
AS Roma Defeat Atalanta 2-1
The second-place AS Roma rallied to a 2-1 victory in Bergamo against Atalanta. Francesco Totti scored the equalizer on a free kick before Amantino Mancini put Roma ahead late in the first half. Totti had missed several games in November and December because of a right foot injury.
