Lewis Hamilton of McLaren was hoping to stretch his lead at the World F1 Drivers Championship standings with a victory at the 2008 Hungarian F1 Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton seemed on course after bagging the pole position during the qualifying stages, but he suffered a tire puncture which kept him out of a podium finish.
Instead, it was Lewis Hamilton’s teammate at McLaren Heikki Kovalainen, who walked away with the first place victory at the 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix. Heikki Kovalainen got lucky towards the end of the race when Felipe Massa of Ferrari had engine trouble, and failed to finish the race and earn points to close the gap on the World Drivers Championship standings.
Timo Glock of Toyota bagged the second spot on the podium of the 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix while Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari managed to squeak into the 3rd spot at the podium. Fernando Alonso of Renault came in at 4th place, and Lewis Hamilton was able to recover to come in at 5th and still earn a few points to maintain his lead in the World Drivers Championships.
As it stands, Lewis Hamitlon is at the top of the Drivers Championship standings with 62 points, trailed closely by Kimi Raikkonen with 57 points and Felipe Massa with 54 points. Robert Kubica of BMW is at 4th with 49 points.
In the Constructors Championship standings, Ferrari lead with 111 points with McLaren moving up to the second spot with 100 points overtaking BMW Sauber who drop to third with 90 points.
The next F1 race will be at Valencia, Spain, for the 2008 F1 European Grand Prix. It will be the first time that the European F1 Grand Prix will be held at Valencia. Prior to that, the European F1 Grand Prix had been held at the Nurburgring in Germany. Last season’s European Grand Prix winner was Fernando Alonso, driving for McLaren-Mercedes.

In the recent F1 German Grand Prix,
Lewis Hamilton of McLaren was able to take first place at the Hockenheim Ring in order to win his second consecutive first place finish, and his fourth of the season to give him the topspot of the 2008 F1 World Drivers’ Championship Standings. Coming in at 2nd place was
Nelson Piquet Jr. of Renault, who had a magnificent race to give him his first trip to the podium.
Meanwhile, Felipe Massa of Ferrari came in third to keep him within striking distance from Lewis Hamilton at the World Drivers’ Championships, but still trails Lewis Hamilton by 4 points.
As it stands, Lewis Hamilton of McLaren leads all drivers with 58 points while Felipe Massa of Ferrari has 54 points, followed closely by Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari with 51 points.
Lewis Hamilton hopes to bag his third consecutive first place finish in the upcoming 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring in Budapest. Of course, he’ll have to overcome the stiff competition of the Ferrari team and their drivers like Felipe Massa and last season’s F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen.
Ferrari have been a bit more consistent, considering that they lead the 2008 F1 World Constructor’s Championships at the moment with 105 points, followed by BMW Sauber with 89 points. McLaren sits at the third spot of the F1 World Constructors Championship standings with 86 points, but that can improve if Lewis Hamilton continues his streak and comes up with yet another first place finish at the Hungaroring for the 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton of McLaren had a phenomenal race in the recent 2008 British F1 Grand Prix and came out the winner at Silverstone in England. Lewis Hamilton’s victory gives him 10 points to improve his standings in the F1 World Driver’s Championships to 48 points in a three-way tie with Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa, who also have 48 points.
Nick Heidfeld of BMW-Sauber came in at 2nd place, earning him his third trip to the podium, and his 3rd second place finish this 2008 F1 Season. Rubens Barichello of Honda started at the 16th spot of the grid, but climbed all the way to the third spot to earn him a third place podium finish, his first this season. Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari came in at 4th place, and earned enough points to share a three-way tie for first place in the F1 World Driver’s Championship Standing alongside team mate Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton.
Heavy rains caused a lot of excitement in the race with a lot of slipping and sliding on the race track at Silverstone. However, those that did manage their driving well, such as Lewis Hamilton, Nick Heidfeld and Rubens Barichello earned their trip to the podium deservingly.
In the 2008 Constructor’s Championship Standings, Ferrari still lead with 96 points, followed in second place by BMW Sauber with 82 points, and McLaren are at third with 72 points.
The next F1 Grand Prix race is set on July 20, 2008 at the Hockenheim Ring in Germany for the 2008 F1 German Grand Prix. There was no race held at Hockenheim during the 2007 F1 Season since the 2007 German Grand Prix was moved to the Nurburgring, and Bernie Ecclestone had ruled that no country may host two grand prix races in the same season. The last time an F1 race was held at Hockenheim was in 2006, and that time the F1 German Grand Prix was won by Michael Schumacher.
Lewis Hamilton hopes to continue his success in Germany after winning the British F1 Grand Prix. Of course, a heavy favorite is Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari, who holds the lap record at the Hockenheim Ring.

F1 driver Lewis Hamilton of McLaren looks to be a heavy favorite to win at the 2008 F1 British Grand Prix on his home circuit at Silverstone in England. Lewis Hamilton suffered an unlikely accident during the 2008 F1 Canadian Grand Prix which then in turn gave him a penalty for the 2008 F1 France Grand Prix at Magny-Cours, France, and forced Lewis Hamilton to start at the back of the grid. Because of these blemishes of Lewis Hamilton, he failed to score points in the last two F1 Grand Prix races, and thus failed to improve in the standings of the 2008 Formule One World Drivers’ Championship.
However, Silverstone is the home court of McLaren, and Lewis Hamilton is the star driver here, and it is clear that he will be the heavy favorite to win the 2008 F1 British Grand Prix this coming July 6.
Of course, Lewis Hamilton will have strong competition from the likes of Felipe Massa of Ferrari, who is the current leader of the 2008 Formule One World Drivers’ Championships, overtaking Robert Kubica of BMW after winning the 2008 F1 French Grand Prix.
Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari also hopes to show some challenge as well as Robert Kubica of BMW, who hopes to gain more points to retake the top spot of the 2008 Formula One World Drivers’ Championship standings.

Ferrari have won seven of the last 11 F1 French Grand Prix races, and the odds are favoring Ferrari to gallop away with the win again. Of course, part of that is due to the fact that Lewis Hamilton of McLaren faces a 10-place grid penalty after his accident in the 2008 Canadian F1 Grand Prix in Montreal when he ran into the back of the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen in the pit lane.
Meanwhile, current World Championship leader Robert Kubica is not expecting to be as strong as the Ferraris on such a circuit in his BMW. That appears to leave the way for Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen to fight for the victory of the 2008 F1 French Grand Prix, with the Felipe Massa hoping to go one better than his second and third places in his last two races at Magny-Cours.
“I am looking forward to having a competitive race because I think it is a good track for us,” said Felipe Massa, who along with Lewis Hamilton trails Robert Kubica by four points.
“We were pretty strong on the street circuits as well (Monaco and Montreal), so in terms of performance we were not behind. But I am happy to come back to this kind of circuit because we can be competitive. Usually on this kind of track the race is a little more normal, and if you start in a good position then you have an even bigger chance to finish in a good position. I think it can be good,” continued Felipe Massa.
Although Felipe Massa knows he should have scored more points than the six he won in the 2008 F1 Monaco Grand Prix, and in particular the four he claimed in the 2008 F1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, Felipe Massa is simply happy to be in the thick of the title hunt.
Especially after his miserable start to the season as he failed to pick up any points from the first two races.
Felipe Massa added: “I remember after those two races I was pretty much behind in the Championship. I have since recovered a lot of points and I am in a very good position, and now everything is open. Everybody is pretty close. But we still have many races to go and we know that things can change very quick in one race.”
F1 Bets are also available on first retirement, head-to-head driver’s matchups and more.

F1 Driver
Robert Kubica of the BMW Sauber F1 Team wasn’t expecting to be taking the lead in the 2008 World Drivers’ Championship standings of the 2008 F1 Season, but he is in the lead with 42 points, following a first place podium finish at the recent 2008 F1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
Anunfortunate accident for Lewis Hamilton of Mclaren with Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari forced their early retirement from the race, and didn’t give them any points to improve their standings in the 2008 World Drivers’ Championship.
Lewis Hamilton led the standings briefly after winning the 2008 F1 Monaco Grand Prix, but failure to earn points at the 2008 F1 Canadian Grand Prix, leaves him with 38 points, tied at 2nd place in the standings with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, who managed a 5th place finish in Montreal to move up the standings. Meanwhile, Kimi Raikkonen sits at fourth in the standings with 35 point.
BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica is happy to have the lead in the standings, knowing that BMW Sauber doesn’t exactly have the fastest car in the grid. And while the accident between Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen may have helped Robert Kubica rise in the standings, Robert Kubica feels confident that this boost will inspire him and BMW Sauber to perform better in order to maintain their success all the way until the end of the season.
The next race in store will be the 2008 F1 Grand Prix de France at Magny-Cours on June 22nd, 2008.

The starting grid of the 2008 F1 Monaco Grand Prix saw
Felipe Massa of Ferrari at pole position with
Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari at the 2nd spot. However, several accidents and incidents that riddled the 2008 F1 Monaco Grand Prix saw a big shuffle as the race progressed.

Robert Kubica of BMW was able to jump a few spots to earn 2nd place while Felipe Massa dropped from pole position to finish on the third spot.
2007 F1 Drivers’ Champion Kimi Raikkonen had some unfortunate accidents that saw him make 4 pitstops, and eventually landed him at the 9th spot, not picking up any points to help his championship campaign for the 2008 F1 Drivers’ Championship.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton’s victory gives him big points, and he overtakes Kimi Raikkonen in the race for the 2008 F1 Drivers’ Championship.
