Tiger Woods won an 18-hole playoff against Rocco Mediate in order to capture the 2008 US Open Golf Championship title, making it his third US Open title and his 14th major championship title, just 4 shy of tying the record of Jack Nicklaus.
Also, Tiger Woods extends his lead in the FedEx Cup standings with a total of 22,695 points after participating in 6 events. Phil Mickelson is at number 2 in the FedEx Cup Standings with 15,940 points after participating in 14 events.
Tiger Woods will be looking forward to the next golf major with the British Open Championship set to be played on July 2008. The 2008 British Open Championship will be played at the Royal Birkdale Golf Course in Lancashire, England.
Prior to that, Tiger Woods might also play at the 2008 Buick Open, the AT&T National or the John Deere Classic.

The campaign of American golfer
Tiger Woods for the 2008 PGA Tour is on a perfect start. Just a few weeks ago, Tiger Woods played in his first tournament of the 2008 PGA Tour, and won the 2008 Buick Invivational. And just over the weekend, Tiger Woods played in his 2nd tournament of 2008 and won the 2008 Dubai Desert Classic (not a PGA Tour event), bringing him to a perfect start of 2-of-2 in tournaments and championships. Undoubtedly, the world’s number 1 golfer is on a hot streak, and surpasses the record of Arnold Palmer in most tournament wins.
With this top form, Tiger Woods looks like he might be set to win a Grand Slam, which means to win the Masters, the U.S. Open, The Open Championship and the PGA Championship in the same year.
We know it’s been predicted and said before, but with a roaring start to 2008 as Tiger Woods has had, this time it looks more seriously possible. In fact, it’s so serious, there’s even a bet on how many Majors will Tiger Woods win in 2008.
Odds on how many Majors will Tiger Woods win in 2008:
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods has not confirmed his participation in the upcoming 2008 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, which is the next stop of the 2008 PGA Tour. The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am tees off on February 7 up to February 10 at Pebble Beach, California.
