The Boston Celtics had the best record in the NBA during the 2007-2008 NBA regular season, and while they may have had some tentative moments during the 2008 NBA Playoffs, they did manage to reach the NBA Finals and win theirs first NBA Championship in over two decades against the Los Angeles Lakers, closing out the best-of-seven NBA Finals series 4-2.
What makes the victory sweet is that the Boston Celtics won the 2008 NBA Championship against their West Coast arch rivals the Los Angeles Lakers, whom they have met in the NBA finals several times throughout NBA history. Of course, the Boston Celtics earned their 2008 NBA Championship because of a solid squad that featured the likes of Kevin Garnett, NBA Finals MVP Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and the rest of the Celtics.
Now the big question is - Is this just a one-time thing, or is this the beginning of another NBA Dynasty? During the last championship of the Boston Celtics back in 1986, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and company were as solid a team as you could ever get, and their success in the NBA included several appearances in the NBA Finals plus a couple of NBA Championships to boot. Can Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and company do the same thing again in the 2008-2009 NBA season? Or is this NBA Championship just one last milestone before talks of retirement begin?
Certainly, the Boston Celtics might have to give up 38-year olds PJ Brown and Sam Cassell, whose aging knees might not even last up to the end of the regular season. That’ll mean, a change in the roster which could either be an improvement, or a huge adjustment that’ll might make things difficult for the Boston Celtics. After all, despite the age of PJ Brown and Sam Cassell, they still do have so much valuable NBA experience to bring to the team.
As for the likes of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen - well, you’ve got one NBA ring, are you good enough to get another one?
Hopefully, we’ll see the Boston Celtics in the 2009 NBA Finals.

The
Los Angeles Lakers were on the brink of getting eliminated by the
Boston Celtics in the 2008 NBA Finals series as they entered Game 5 of the NBA Finals down 3-1 in the series. However, the home crowd at the Staples Center in Los Angeles rallied the Los Angeles Lakers, and eventually they were able to pull off a 103-98 victory against the Boston Celtics in order to force a Game 6.
Game 6 will be held at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, Massachusetts where the Boston Celtics hope to wrap up the series and win the 2008 NBA Championship title along with some fancy NBA Championship rings. The last time the Boston Celtics were NBA Champions was still over two decades ago during the Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish era.
This time around Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce will be hoping to bring back the NBA Championship title to the Boston Celtics, and earn their first ever NBA Championship ring.
Of course, that’s easier said than done with the Los Angeles Lakers gaining some momentum going into Game 6 at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston. While the Los Angeles Lakers haven’t won a game at Boston in this 2008 NBA Finals series, they have been able to manage a good performance at Boston, and maybe in Game 6, the Los Angeles Lakers, led by 2008 NBA MVP Kobe Bryant will have the chance to break the Boston Celtics streak and force a do-or-die Game 7.

NBA MVP Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers had a magnificent game in Game 3 to bring the 2008 NBA Finals series to 2-1 in favor of the Boston Celtics. In game 4, it looked like the LA Lakers were ready to tie the series with the Boston Celtics, even mounting a commanding 24-point lead. However, the Boston Celtics staged one of the greatest comebacks in NBA Finals history, eventually edging out the Los Angeles Lakers 97-91 in the Staples Center, home court of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Now, the NBA Finals series between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers is 3-1 in favor of the Boston Celtics, and the Boston Celtics are just one win away from clinching the 2008 NBA Finals, a title that has eluded them for over a decade.
Ray Allen looks like he is the most consistent player of the Boston Celtics, and he might even bag the NBA Finals MVP award. Of course, Kevin Garnett has been pivotal for the Boston Celtics, and he will truly be happy to accept an NBA ring.
However, don’t count out the Los Angeles Lakers out just yet. After all, NBA MVP Kobe Bryant might just lead the Los Angeles Lakers to one of the biggest comebacks if the Los Angeles Lakers manage to win the last 3 games of the series. It’s a big IF, but no one said it’s impossible.

The
Boston Celtics just recently scored a 106-102 victory over the
Detroit Pistons in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Finals series. The Boston Celtics now take a 3-2 advantage in the series over the Detroit Pistons, and are inching towards winning a trip to the
2008 NBA Finals. Kevin Garnett scored 33 points and Ray Allen added 29 points for the Boston Celtics.
The Boston Celtics will try to close out the series during Game 6 at the Palace of Auburnin Auburn Hills, Michigan - home court of the Detroit Pistons. Should the Detroit Pistons win that very important Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals then Game 7 will be back in the home court of the Boston Celtics.
Meanwhile, in the Western Conference Finals. The Los Angeles Lakers hope to close out the series against the San Antonio Spurs on Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, which will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The Los Angeles Lakers have not lost at home in the 2008 NBA Playoffs, so it’s going to look like the Los Angeles Lakers are almost sure to go through.

A huge 93-91 away victory by the
Los Angeles Lakers over the 2007 NBA Champions
San Antonio Spurs at San Antonio, Texas, has given the Los Angeles Lakers a 3-1 edge on their best-of-seven NBA Western Conference Finals series. Kobe Bryant led the Los Angeles Lakers with 28 points and 10 rebounds during the pivotal Game 4 win at San Antonio. Tim Duncan had a game-high 29 points and 17 rebounds for the losing San Antonio Spurs.
Game 5 of the best-of-seven series will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, where the Los Angeles Lakers have not lost a playoff game. Of course, the defending champions San Antonio Spurs cannot be counted out just yet, but definitely they will have to overcome the challenge of beating the Los Angeles Lakers in LA in order to force a Game 6 at San Antonio, and if the San Antonio Spurs can win Game 6, then it will force a do-or-die Game 7 for the Western Conference Finals to be played in Los Angeles.
However, the San Antonio Spurs have yet to look to the very important Game 5 in order to stay alive in the 2008 NBA Playoffs. The odds are favoring the Los Angeles Lakers to win the series on Game 5.

The San Antonio Spurs are the defending NBA Champions, and have been one of the strongest teams in the past decade, and will certainly be a top contender to defend their NBA Championship title this year. But first, the San Antonio Spurs have to get past the Los Angeles Lakers, who hold the best record in the Western Conference, and will have the advantage of a Game 7 home court should the best-of-seven series go the distance.
The Los Angeles Lakers vs San Antonio Spurs series will definitely bring about a lot of intense basketball competition of the highest level. Top coaches Phil Jackson of the Los Angeles Lakers up against Greg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs.
