Duke Blue Devils at Temple Owls +13.5No. 9 ranked
Duke Blue Devils were impressive in their game against the
Temple Owls, dominating all throughout and coming up with a 74-64 victory on the Temple home court at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, despite the impressive win, the Duke Blue Devils failed to cover the point spread, and give Temple the win against the spread.
Duke looked all set to cover the -13.5 point spread, going up by 16 points at the end of the first-half with a score of 39 to 23. However, Duke stepped off the gas pedal on the 2nd half, and were outscored by Temple 41-35 in order to bring the final score to 74-64 in favor of Duke. While the Duke Blue Devils win the game against Temple straight up, the 10 point margin at the end of regulation will not be enough to cover the -13.5 point spread. The good news for Duke is that their key players will grab some headlines, such as DeMarcus Nelson who was very productive with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The best scorer for Duke was Taylor King who scored 15 points for the Duke Blue Devils in just 12 minutes of play.
Temple were led by the heroics of Dionte Christmas who had a game-high 23 points and 7 rebounds. Mark Tyndale also did well for the Temple Owls by scoring 20 points.
The Duke Blue Devils improve their NCAA record to 12-1 while the Temple Owls drop to a record of 6-7 so far in the 2007-08 NCAA basketball regular season. The win by Duke gives Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyewski his 787th victory and moves him into sixth place on the college basketball career wins list.
The next NCAA basketball game of the Duke Blue Devils will be against Virginia Cavaliers on January 13. Meanwhile, the Temple Owls will be visitors at the home court of the Charlotte 49ers.
