The LPGA Tour begins the year 2008 with the 2008 Women’s World Cup of Golf, which will be played at the very tough course at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, South Africa on January 18th up to the 20th.
The 2008 Women’s World Cup of Golf will follow a best-ball tournament format where the best-ball shot among the two players will be the next one struck. The Women’s World Cup of Golf tees off on January 18th. 20 countries will be represented by 2 golfers each, to bring a total of some 40 women to participate in the Women’s World Cup of Golf. A purse of $1.4 million is also one of the features of the Women’s World Cup of Golf.
Sophie Gustafson and Maria Hjorth of Sweden are 3-to-1 favorites to win the Women’s World Cup of Golf. Julie Inkster and Pat Hurst of the USA are also 3-to-1 favorites to win the Women’s World Cup of Golf. Paraguay, the 2007 Women’s World Cup of Golf Champions, are 16-to-1 favorites to win. For the 2008 Women’s World Cup of Golf, Paraguay will be represented by Julieta Granada and Celeste Troche.
