World No. 1 men’s tennis player Roger Federer of Switzerland is looking on track for a trip to the 2008 French Open Men’s Finals and is set to play on the third round against Mario Ancic of Croatia.
Meanwhile, World No. 2 Rafael Nadal of Spain may have won his French Open third round match against Jarkko Nieminem of Finland in straight sets, but Rafa Nadal did require some medical treatment on some nasty blisters on his foot. With still a lot of tennis to be played before reaching the finals, it may not be certain if Rafael Nadal will even be fit enough to withstand blisters. After all, blisters need time to heal, and the tennis matches going to the finals will just get harder and harder, and eventually those matches in the French Open will take their toll on the feet of Rafael Nadal. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Rafael Nadal might retire in one of his upcoming matches. Maybe Rafael Nadal might even retire in his French Open Quarterfinal match against fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.
Looking sharp, howevrer, is No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia, who is looking to win his 2nd Grand Slam Tournament this year after successfully winning the 2008 Australian Open. Novak Djokovic will have to get past Paul-Henri Mathieu of France in the French Open Men’s Quarterfinals. Definitely, Paul-Henri Mathieu will have the home support of the French crowd which will make it difficult for Novak Djokovic.

A huge 93-91 away victory by the
Los Angeles Lakers over the 2007 NBA Champions
San Antonio Spurs at San Antonio, Texas, has given the Los Angeles Lakers a 3-1 edge on their best-of-seven NBA Western Conference Finals series. Kobe Bryant led the Los Angeles Lakers with 28 points and 10 rebounds during the pivotal Game 4 win at San Antonio. Tim Duncan had a game-high 29 points and 17 rebounds for the losing San Antonio Spurs.
Game 5 of the best-of-seven series will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, where the Los Angeles Lakers have not lost a playoff game. Of course, the defending champions San Antonio Spurs cannot be counted out just yet, but definitely they will have to overcome the challenge of beating the Los Angeles Lakers in LA in order to force a Game 6 at San Antonio, and if the San Antonio Spurs can win Game 6, then it will force a do-or-die Game 7 for the Western Conference Finals to be played in Los Angeles.
However, the San Antonio Spurs have yet to look to the very important Game 5 in order to stay alive in the 2008 NBA Playoffs. The odds are favoring the Los Angeles Lakers to win the series on Game 5.

Russian tennis player
Maria Sharapova won the first tennis grand slam tournament of the year when she won the
2008 Australian Open at the start of the year. Since then, Maria Sharapova has been able to bag a few more tournaments, and she has been given the Number 1 seed entering the 2008 French Open.
With world no. 1 Justine Henin announcing her retirement, the field for women’s tennis has opened up and the stage is set to crown a new number one. Of course, Maria Sharapova has been the world no. 1 once before, and she looks to be on track to regain her status as the top women’s singles tennis player, especially with a huge victory at the 2008 French Open.
Of course, while Maria Sharapova may be the number one seed to win the 2008 French Open Women’s Singles, she will still face heavy competition from the likes of Ana Ivanovic, Serena Williams, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Jelena Jankovic, who are among the top 5 seeds of the 2008 French Open.
