Los Angeles Lakers Burn Miami Heat 106-88
The Los Angeles Lakers covered the 14-point spread, while the combined score fell UNDER the posted total of 210.
The red-hot Los Angeles Lakers continue to find ways to get it done.
Jordan Farmar scored 12 of his career-high 24 points in the fourth quarter to help the Lakers earn their 10th straight win with Thursday’s 106-88 victory over the slumping Miami Heat.
All-Star Kobe Bryant scored 21 points and Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom had 13 and 11 rebounds apiece for Los Angeles, which is one win shy from tying its longest winning streak since the 2003-04 campaign.
“We just want to keep it rolling,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. “We just want to keep this thing, this energy going in the right direction.”
The Lakers remain atop the loaded Western Conference at 41-17 and need one more victory to tie last season’s win total with 24 contests remaining.
“We’re really having a fun time playing with one another,” said Kobe Bryant, who had eight assists and four steals. “It makes the season that much more enjoyable.”
The Miami Heat (10-45) sit on the other side of the spectrum, owning the NBA’s worst record with just two wins over its last 29 outings.
Jordan Farmar, who tied his previous career high with 21 points in Tuesday’s win at Portland, connected on 5-of-7 shots in the fourth quarter - including a 3-pointer from the wing that made it 91-75 with 5:16 remaining.
“It’s funny, I told my dad that I was going to get (my career high),” Jordan Farmar said. “I’ve been feeling really good, just being really aggressive. I was joking in a sense, but once the game started going and I started knocking down some shots I felt I had an opportunity to do it.”

The second leg of the knock round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League is already going to be played next week on March 4 and March 5, save for the Liverpool vs. Inter Milan match which will be delayed until March 11 because Arsenal will be playing AC Milan at the San Siro, the same home-pitch of Inter Milan.
In any case, here are the match-ups and betting predictions for the 2nd leg of the knock out round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League:
Schalke 04 vs. FC Porto. Schalke won the first leg 1-0 with the home-pitch advantage giving them the slight edge. FC Porto will need 2 goals to win by aggregate and advance to the Champions League quarterfinals, and at least 1 to force a penalty shootout. Hopefully, FC Porto can make use of the home pitch advantage to come up with a better result. However, if Schalke score first, the odds are going to be against FC Porto. Bet on Schalke to win against FC Porto, and bet on Schalke 04 to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
AS Roma vs. Real Madrid. AS Roma were able to hold off Real Madrid 2-1 when AS Roma hosted Real Madrid during the first leg. But Real Madrid hope to be able to overtake Roma in the 2nd leg to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Real Madrid only lost once at the Santiago Bernabeu this season during a recent Spanish La Liga match against Getafe. But then, Real Madrid is still a force to reckon with and AS Roma will have to play hard to maintain their aggregate lead, and hopefully advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Bet on Real Madrid to win against AS Roma, and bet on Real Madrid to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Olympiakos vs. Chelsea. The result of the first leg was a goal-less draw at Greece, and now the result of the 2nd leg will be crucial to see who will advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Chelsea have the home-pitch advantage at Stamford Bridge, and that’s the advantage that they might just need for them to book a win and advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Of course, Chelsea can be expected to be hungry for a win after losing to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carling Cup Finals. Bet on Chelsea to win against Olympiakos, and bet on Chelsea to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Celtic vs. Barcelona. Barcelona won the first leg at Celtic’s home pitch 3-2, and the 3 away goals might be a deciding factor on which club will advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Celtic will need to win by a two goal advantage to have a chance to advance because just 1 away goal will not be enough to match Barcelona’s 3 away goals, and Barcelona will be sure to advance. Beating Barcelona at the Nou Camp is not going to be an easy task. Bet on Barcelona to win against Celtic, and bet on Barcelona to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Lyon vs. Manchester United. A 1-1 draw between Lyon and Manchester United in the first leg held at Lyon doesn’t really give any team a definite advantage. Certainly, the winner of the second leg will be advancing to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. The home-pitch advantage of Manchester United at Old Trafford might give the slight edge, but Lyon will be sure to give their all to hold off Manchester United. Bet on Manchester United to win against Lyon, and bet on Manchester United to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Fenerbahce vs. Sevilla. The first leg saw Fenerbahce hold their ground at Turkey against Sevilla with a 3-2 victory. Sevilla will have to dig deep to overturn the 3-2 aggregate advantage of Fenerbahce. A 2 goal advantage by Sevilla will surely have them advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Bet on Fenerbahce to win against Sevilla, and bet on Fenerbahce to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Arsenal vs. AC Milan. Arsenal weren’t able to take advantage of the home pitch advantage at the Emirates Stadium, and a 0-0 draw with AC Milan leaves everything up for grabs. AC Milan have not been as successful as they are expected to be at their home pitch at the San Siro as can be seen with their dismal Italian Serie A record. But then, AC Milan are the current UEFA Champions League title holders, and AC Milan is known to give exceptional performances, especially during big tournament matches. Of course, they also have FIFPro Player of the Year Kaka on their side. Bet on AC Milan to win against Arsenal, and bet on AC Milan to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Liverpool vs. Inter Milan. Liverpool were able to win 2-0 against a 10-man Inter Milan at Anfield during the first leg. With the second leg being played in the San Siro, Inter Milan will be looking forward to the home pitch advantage to give them a winning chance. However, Inter Milan will need 2 goals to force a penalty shootout, and 3 goals to book a win to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. If Liverpool score first, it could be all over for Inter Milan. Inter Milan can be expected to win by a 1-goal advantage at least, but that won’t be enough for them as Liverpool will be through to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Bet on Inter Milan to win against Liverpool, BUT bet on Liverpool to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

Former New York Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens is under scrutiny by the FBI, who are investigating his testimony in Congress where Clemens claimed that he did not take performance-enhancing drugs. Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants was last season’s victim, and despite getting the record for the most career home runs, he got sacked by the San Francisco Giants due to the controversy that Bonds took performance-enhancing drugs.
Now, Roger Clemens is under fire. The question is - will he be back to play Major League Baseball this coming 2008 Major League Baseball season? Roger Clemens is one of the MLB’s best pitchers, having won the Cy Young award seven times for his pitching prowess.
Roger Clemens is now going to be under investigation for perjury, and if found guilty… Well, let’s just say that we might not have the pleasure of his pitching.
Just recently, Roger Clemens was seen at pitching practice in the Houston Astros minor league spring training camp. He was wearing a Houston Astros uniform, but that really doesn’t mean that he’s going to be pitching for the Astros. As of press time, Roger Clemens is known to be a free agent. He did pitch for the Yankees last season, and with the Houston Astros before that. For the upcoming 2008 MLB season, we’ll just have to wait until his case is over to find out if Roger Clemens will return to Major League Baseball.
